New Year Resolutions

December 23, 2010

I have gained a considerable amount of weight since the the fallback of the accident. I would have to say I have gained about 5 to 8 lbs I have rescheduled my workouts so I can get back into this again. This is going to require discipline and consistency on my part if I want to succeed. I have made it a goal of mine to see if I can make it up to at least brown belt by the end of next year. I want to be able to have solid muscle again and have the energy I need to face the trials ahead. I have now reached to 1st degree blue belt which means that not only will I train but I will also learn how to teach. I am so excited about inspiring others in their own goals.

Losing my weight is going to be hard as I found out when I was running my 5 miles at the track. However, that does not mean I am afraid of a good challenge. Am I not doing this so I can become the fighter I have always dreamed of? To surpass impossible odds and live life as one great adventure? I say bring it on!!! J

Slowly but surely

I was able to go to training today which HURT alot! I actually had to cut my training a little short today because the pain in my shoulder was just too much to take at the moment. Very frustrating. I was able to go to the doctor today, however, and I found out  that I have tendinitis in that shoulder. Good news is that it will get better and I will not need surgery. The bad news is that it will hurt like crazy during the recovery process. The doctor gave me instructions on how to train even with my tendinitis so I at least have a game plan. I have decided to take tomorrow off from training but that does not necessarily mean that I do not train at all. It would just be too hard to bring my gear and then go straight to work when I am done, especially since it is hard to maneuver with my bag and my armored jacket at the same time while I am riding my 50cc scooter. I will be doing my laps instead which still works towards my MMA training. I will let you know how many miles I reach. Well, good night for now. Sleep well and may God bless you always!

Rescheduling

Well, I was not able to go to MMA training today. I have a tutoring session with a Hispanic student and since this is orientation day for him, it is best that I attend this one :) I should be able to get something done tomorrow at 10:00 tomorrow morning and get my MMA classes going. Until then, Adieu!

Rising Above my Past Injuries

Well, tomorrow I should be well enough to train over at Renaissance Academy of Martial Arts. I cannot tell you how much they have been patient with me. I have through a series of accidents all throughout the year that training has been hard to do.  I have been in two scooter wrecks which I pulled my rotator cuff pretty good and I broke my toe on my left foot. I also dislocated my left ankle which took a good two months before it was ever back to normal. My progression from my 2nd degree green belt to my 1st degree blue has been very slow indeed. That scooter will be the death of me someday! My recent pulled rotator cuff has been really aggravating this past week so I have been babying it in hopes that it will be well enough next week to train once again. I do believe that I have achieved this goal. Just 4 more classes and I will be tested for the belt. I am still unable to do a full push up, but hey, one step ata time. I will get there just as long as I take it slow and easy Someday, I will not have so many injuries because by that time I will have myself my very own car and a different job. Until then, this is the trial that I must face and i must be extra careful so that I may continue to better myself and learn how to be the independent person that god has intended for me to be.
